Hector Riva-Palacio
Founder & MD. Leadership consultant and coach
Prior to forming Helping Reach Potential in 2017, I worked in blue chip environments for 17 years. This included 12 years at Camelot where I led people development and leadership programmes.
Working at a strategic level in Helping Reach Potential, I provide executive coaching and team development as part of Adjust Advance Achieve® programmes. I also design and facilitate workshops for big audiences such as company conferences and national corporate meetings.
I love being able to motivate senior leaders when they’re experiencing significant change and challenge. By becoming more purposeful, you deliver long-term, sustainable results and true leadership mastery.
The optimum balance of driving for results and humility for people creates the most inspirational leaders.

Recruitment and leadership consultant and coach
I’m a Chartered Occupational Psychologist. Specialising in recruitment, assessment, and development, I love applying psychology to build performance. This aligns perfectly with the ethos of Adjust Advance Achieve® which helps leaders advance by managing their mindset and tackling negative thoughts.
Having spent 18 years creating and implementing recruitment and development programmes, I’ve also coached leaders for six years, focusing on performance and career development.
My approach is evidence-based. I use critical analysis and scientific insights, whilst listening carefully and empathising. I help leaders to honestly identify their strengths and discover their unique brand. From that point, they can achieve their potential.

Given the right environment, leaders will come up with their own answers. I believe we’re all inherently driven to achieve our potential.
I help leaders thrive and flourish – to be at their best more often. I’m flexible and intuitive, always partnering with my clients to create a strengths and solutions-focused approach for sustainable change in their whole life. Having their Strengthscope® report to build from makes this process more effective.
Understanding how my clients are thinking is crucial. Identifying assumptions that may be limiting their progress I’ll offer fresh insight and genuine interest in their best way forward.

Executive Coach
My hybrid methods merge coaching with therapy. I’ll explore my client’s whole life, not simply their time at work. Our Adjust and Advance courses give leaders huge insight about themselves and helps our work together as we uncover their real problems and natural strengths.
My career started with 11 years at Tesco. Since 2011 I’ve coached leaders from all business sectors – including Harrods and The Alzheimer’s Society. Most recently, I worked with the British Olympic Equestrian Team.
I’m most suited to coaching leaders through transition. That might be their own career or change and uncertainty around them. Keen to build emotional resilience, I help leaders maintain balance and overcome imposter syndrome.

I’m an award-winning HR consultant (CIPD UK Consultant of the Year), a human-centred coach, and a facilitator and speaker.
I understand the dynamic relationship between meeting commercial goals and addressing the needs of a growing team. I also appreciate how our thoughts and feelings impact our individual working lives and are important for personal health and wellbeing.
My support can be particularly helpful around our Advance course, which helps leaders unpack their thoughts and feelings as they learn to manage their emotions.
My career began as an HR apprentice, climbing the corporate ladder through private, public and third-sector roles. My diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis then gave me another passion – health and wellbeing, particularly the mind-body connection.
I also proudly sit on the tribunal for employment claims across England and Wales.
